GLASS ANIMALS

Glass Animals is a rock band founded in Oxford in 2010. Beggars Group has worked with them to produce their hit 2019 song, 'Tokyo Drifting'. The single featured Denzel Curry and is part of the band's Fresh Fruit Series of collaborations with other artists. Glass Animals are known for their escapism within their music and cryptic lyrics with the influence of hip-hop. Their most popular song, 'Heat Waves' has over 500M YouTube views. The video portrays a man being eavesdropped on by the public with three old TVs in a wheelbarrow. With the advertisement on their album, 'Dreamland' throughout the video, they use inter-contextual references. When the TVs turn on, they sing to an empty concert. It took place in 2020 during the pandemic lockdowns.

4. Copyright Permissions

Dear The Animals,

I will be using your song 'House of the Rising Sun' for a music video remaster. I understand the copyright principles in place and I will not be doing this for revenue. I am doing this for NEA A-Level media coursework.

All credits will be given to 'The Animals' and a link to the original song will be provided. ABKCO Music & Records will also be given credit for distributing the album 'The Animals' which the song appears on.

I hope we can come to terms with this non-financial agreement.

MY MUSIC VIDEO OF CHOICE

The Animals - House of the Rising Sun
This music video lacks narrative as it is just a performance. Released in the '60s, this is one of the most popular British releases, and 'The Animals' top song. The song falls under the rock genre with a hint of the blues.

I believe a narrative would fit well under a Western genre with it telling of a man turning himself into the law. Lyrics like, "I'm going back to New Orleans to wear that ball and chain" show how this person could be doing that. But for the better good of his family or town, we don't know. We suspect he may be a gambler as a lyric states, "My father was a gambling man".

The House in New Orleans could be the prison he is going to.

Welcome to Prarie Town, a small western mining town located in Oklahoma. The year is 1895, and the notorious and infamous gunslinger and outlaw Alan Cornwallis is plans to finally turn himself in for his crimes. Rumour states that he accidentally killed a loved one while trying to stop a bounty. Now, in regret he returns to his hometown to board the train to New Orleans to wear that ball and chain and to put his former life to rest, for good.
